Freezing for Food 2008

For the eighth year in a row, WLBK's program director Terry "T.D." Ryan stood outside in the cold for three days straight in the "Freezing for Food" event to collect donated food for the DeKalb County Salvation Army.

This year's drive took place in the Target-Aldi shopping center in DeKalb beginning at noon on Wednesday, December 3 and finishing at noon on Saturday, Saturday 6. Ryan was joined in the first two hours of "Freezing for Food" by Betsy Brint and Sally Higginson of the syndicated radio program "Walking on Air with Betsy and Sal", heard weekdays on WLBK 1360 AM at noon. WLBK general manager Larry Timpe made numerous trips to Aldi to purchase food with money put into T.D.'s red Salvation Army bucket.

This goal for this year's "Freezing for Food" drive was 12,000 pounds but because of the generosity of DeKalb County, T.D. helped the Salvation Army collect over 22,400 pounds of food for those in need.
